BitTorrent Sites Generate a Billion Hits a Month

Mininova, The Pirate Bay, and the isoHunt together are now generating more than a billion pageviews a month according to TorrentFreak.

Isohunt, the third largest BitTorrent site, is actually the oldest of the three, but continues to grow with 350,000,0000 pageviews per month.

Copyright Cops are Coming

TheInquirer.net is reporting that the music and film industry are close to sealing a deal with G8 nations for officers similar to custom officials. Further, they report that the tax payer paid copyright police will be charged with checking laptops, Ipods, phones and other personal devices for content that 'infringes' copyright laws.

Comcast: Height of Hypocrisy

Comcast, which is under federal investigation for throttling BitTorrent traffic on its network, has invested in an internet startup the delivers HD video that uses file-sharing.

Seattle-based GridNetworks said on Monday that Comcast would make an investment in the company and collaborate on developing the peer-to-peer file-sharing network. This while the Comcast, the United State's second largest ISP, hampers file sharing traffic under the guise of improving overall traffic speed.

New Twist on Peer to Peer Trading

Zilok.com has gone live with the full US service launch of its online rental marketplace after six months in beta trials.

Zilok is a service which facilitates the renting the things you aren't using to peoplle in your area. Posting an item just takes a minute: Type in what it is, where it is and when it is available, upload a picture, set your price and choose payment methods. Before you know it you may receive your first text message or email notifying you that "Someone requested your item." Not someone from out of state, someone from your actual area.

Renting an item is similarly easy, type in what you are looking for and where you live. Find the item, set the time frame of the rental and confirm the request with the retainer system. Next pickup the item locally and pay the owner directly.

Mininova Targeted by BREIN with Lawsuit

The popular BitTorrent site, Mininova, has been threaten by BREIN, a dutch coalition of artists and entertainment producers to "take effective measures to curtail this [copyright] abuse" on its own or be stopped from doing so by the courts.
